Last Thursday, we held our first national ACSME webinar on the topic of Cultural Intelligence (“CQ”) which attracted a lively audience and some good feedback from SME business owners, coaches and advisers. I’ve always believed that cultural differences are the single most important factor in determining the success or failure of any project in China, and so it’s vital to spend time understanding and learning about this topic.
If you missed the webinar, you can watch the recording of the whole session via this link and I hope you’ll find it interesting.
Most importantly, we gave all attendees an opportunity to take the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) Assessment Test which aims to measure your cultural competence and identifies areas for improvement and/or self-development. I did this test myself and, despite my keen interest and awareness of the importance of adapting to cultural differences, I was quite surprised by how much I still have to learn on this topic.
We’ve negotiated a special package to enable as many people as possible to complete the test, including a one hour debrief with Dr PoLi Tan (an IDI accredited coach with a lifetime experience of working with business leaders of all nationalities seeking to measure and develop their CQ) to interpret your results and discuss areas for future development.
